Colorado Carbon Fund Solar Hot Water Projects
Bidder's Conference 1/14/10 | Proposals Due 2/4/10
The Climate Trust is now soliciting proposals on behalf of the Colorado Carbon Fund for the installation of solar hot water technologies at large buildings to displace the use of fossil fuels (such as natural gas, propane, or diesel) for water heating.
Support for selected projects will be provided as a carbon offset purchase agreement between the awardees and the Colorado Carbon Fund via The Climate Trust. Nonprofits, government agencies, for-profit businesses, or combinations of these parties, are eligible to submit proposals.
Typical project sites may include recreation centers, hospitals, hotels, prisons, or other facilities which use large amounts of hot water. The Climate Trust is offering up to $250,000 total, which will be divided between no more than five awards. Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The GEO's rebate team will continue to manage a high volume of work over the next few months. As a result you may find that our response rate to solar rebate-specific questions is delayed. They are providing the following tools and encourage you to stay abreast of any program changes or updates by taking the following steps:

NewsCouncil flips 'off' switch on solar rebate program
The city won't offer its rebate program this year to residents and business owners who want to install solar photovoltaic systems. The Longmont City Council on Tuesday night chose not to continue the program because the city would have had to pony up its own money - even if it meant getting matching money from the Colorado Governor's Energy Office. As Panels Get Better and Cheaper, PVs are Poised for Their Day in the Sun
These days, solar power is getting nearly as much attention as wind received in recent years. In the first week of December, the EU Energy Institute was quoted extensively in British and other European media regarding that organization's belief that solar panel costs will drop dramatically and be cost-competitive with fossil-fuel-based energy for half of Europe's homes by 2020 -- notably, cost-competitive without a subsidy.
